Siemens completed its acquisition of MERMEC’s signaling, electrification, telecommunication, diagnostics and analytics businesses. The acquired perimeter includes about 1,700 employees and €430 million in fiscal 2025 revenue, with signaling contributing about 60% of revenue. Siemens said the businesses serve customers in more than 70 countries.

Freightliner renamed locomotive 90040 as The Railway Mission at a ceremony in Crewe. It is the first locomotive to carry Freightliner’s refreshed branding after the CMA CGM takeover, and Freightliner also donated £1,000 to Railway Mission.

Freightliner has introduced a new logo after CMA CGM completed its acquisition of the UK intermodal business on 29 January 2026. Network Rail will replace a substandard railway bridge over Agbrigg Road in Wakefield for £5m over the Christmas period. The work will require a line closure between Doncaster and Leeds and road closures near Sandal and Agbrigg station.
