The Robin Hood Line Community Partnership (RHL CRP) has published its annual report for 2025, highlighting the work it has carried out to support the Nottinghamshire line. The line has thirteen stations. Four of them – Shirebrook, Langwith-Whaley Thorns, Creswell and Whitwell – are in Bolsover district, so the District Council supports the Partnership’s activities. At a recent meeting, the Council’s Executive acknowledged the Partnership’s contribution to community engagement, rail safety education, economic development, environmental improvements, active travel projects, station adoption activity and partnership achievements. The annual report sets out the Partnership’s range of achievements during the year. Its ‘Fusion Learning’ initiative won first prize in the ‘Involving Children and Young People’ category of the Community Rail Awards. Fusion Learning supported twelve students who were at risk of dropping out of school and/or work to learn fabrication and welding in a workshop environment. The students built a sculpture of a mammoth which has been installed at Creswell Station. Representatives of the Partnership attended a parliamentary reception hosted by the Community Rail Network. During the year, Partnership promoted rail travel at several community and sector events, including Bolsover Pride, a career day at Ashgate Croft School in Chesterfield, community litter-picks including the Great British Spring Clean, Remembrance Day services, and World Book Day visits to schools to encourage young people to stay safe on platforms and trains. It has also taken part in East Midlands Railway’s ‘Getting There Greener’ initiative. Other activities during the year included the Rail Safe Friendly programme, a Try a Train initiative, the Community Trail project, the Silent Stars project, the You vs Train distraction project, and a Creswell Station art project. 2025 has been exceptional for the RHL CRP, defined by meaningful projects, strong community engagement and well-deserved recognition. From creative arts and safety education to confidence-building programmes and career inspiration, our work has continued to make a real difference to young people and families within our local communities.
