At Wandsworth Town station, piling for new lift shafts has been completed as part of a £19.8 million step-free access upgrade. Network Rail completed nine days of work to renew and strengthen Saxmundham junction on East Suffolk Line, converting it from manual to powered operation and upgrading signalling and infrastructure. The improvements support increased freight traffic to the Sizewell C construction site and resumed Greater Anglia services between Halesworth and Ipswich.
Alstom says the new-generation TGV M, based on its Avelia Horizon platform, has entered commercial service in France on SNCF’s Paris–Marseille route. The train offers higher capacity, lower energy use and predictive maintenance features, and is the first operational reference for the platform.
Siemens Mobility launched Tech Experience Launchpad, a UK work-experience programme for 11–16-year-olds that will offer more than 3,300 opportunities a year and 10,000 over three years. Danish State Railways awarded ELL a EUR 26.35 million lease contract for up to 12 Siemens Vectron AC locomotives for regional and long-distance passenger services. The contract includes maintenance, spare parts and availability support, with initial entry into service expected from December 2026.
