Birmingham Christmas Markets Travel Advice Issued

Read the original ↗

Summary

AI · gpt-5.4-mini-2026-03-17 · relevance 12

Network Rail has advised passengers to plan ahead for heavy festive travel in Birmingham. Christmas markets and events are expected to increase use of Birmingham stations, with staff available at New Street, Moor Street and Snow Hill, while some services to New Street will be suspended from 24 to 28 December 2026.

This is a reminder that passenger-management and station-operations capability remain important, but it does not signal direct procurement demand for Malaysian rail suppliers.
Ringkasan

Network Rail menasihatkan penumpang supaya merancang perjalanan awal kerana Birmingham dijangka sangat sibuk semasa musim perayaan. Pasaran Krismas dan acara lain dijangka meningkatkan penggunaan stesen Birmingham, dengan kakitangan disediakan di New Street, Moor Street dan Snow Hill, manakala beberapa perkhidmatan ke New Street akan digantung dari 24 hingga 28 Disember 2026.

Network Rail is advising passengers that Birmingham is going to be very busy during the forthcoming festive season, so they should plan their journeys in advance. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to visit the city for the various Christmas celebrations that it will be hosting. During 2025’s festive market season, about 4.5 million passengers used Birmingham New Street station. Station staff will be available to help passengers with their journeys through Birmingham’s stations. Yesterday (Thursday 5 November), the Frankfurt Christmas Market began. It will run until Thursday 24 December 2026, and includes market stalls on Victoria Square, New Street and High Street. The popular festive market brings festive food, drink and entertainment to the centre of Birmingham. Another shopping opportunity is available in the form of the Christmas in Cathedral Square Market, at which people can buy crafts, gifts, food and drink from a mix of independent traders. The Market opens today and runs until Christmas Eve. It is located around St Philip’s Cathedral. Visitors to Birmingham can also enjoy a Polar Express train ride from Moor Street station. Once Christmas preparations are over, some Birmingham train services will be cancelled for the Christmas period itself. Trains will not run to, from or through Birmingham New Street station from Thursday 24 December (Christmas Eve) until Monday 28 December. Train services will resume on Tuesday 29 December. Christmas is always a fantastic time in Birmingham and we’re looking forward to welcoming people travelling into the city to enjoy everything it has to offer. The railway will be busy, particularly at weekends and in the evenings, so our advice is simple: plan ahead, know which trains you can catch home and please be patient with our colleagues and other passengers. Teams will be on hand at Birmingham New Street, Moor Street, and Snow Hill throughout the festive period to provide information, help people with their journeys and keep everyone moving safely.
