GBR Anglia is offering free travel to veterans for next weekend’s Remembrance services. The offer applies to serving military personnel and veterans travelling on c2c and Greater Anglia Services to and from London, who are attending the Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph on Saturday, 7th and Sunday, 8th November. The offer also applies to serving military personnel and veterans who are attending Remembrance events outside London on Sunday, 8th November. Unlike previous years, the offer also now includes one immediate bereaved family member of a person who died in service, which is estimated to benefit around 650 people. To claim the offer of free travel, veterans must show a Veterans Railcard, Veterans ID card, or other proof of veteran status, and serving personnel must either be in uniform or be in possession of a Ministry of Defence (MoD) identity card. Bereaved family members can apply for a special complimentary ticket through an MoD-managed application process, and these tickets will be personalised and only valid for use by the named recipient, who must carry photographic identification and be prepared to verify their identity during their journey. The complimentary ticket can be used on any train service during the ticket’s validity period. Anyone who has already purchased a rail ticket but is eligible for free travel should contact the ticket retailer to check whether a refund is available. The offer applies to one Standard Class return journey on all National Rail operators, but does not include travel on Transport for London services, including the Underground, Overground, Elizabeth Line, DLR, buses, and trams. Passengers travelling by c2c are reminded that c2c customers are advised that on the weekend of 7th and 8th November, there are engineering works taking place between Barking and Fenchurch Street, which may affect their travel plans. London Northwestern Railway is also running the same Remembrance offer as GBR Anglia, whilst London North Eastern Railway has named one of its Azuma trains Remember as a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who served in the Armed Forces. “At GBR Anglia, we stand together in Remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and honour all those who have served and continue to serve in our Armed Forces. We are honoured to offer complimentary travel to veterans and serving military personnel attending Remembrance events this weekend, and we thank them for their extraordinary service.” Rob Mullen, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, GBR Anglia
