To help passengers travel on trains to and from Cardiff for this month’s Autumn Internationals at the Principality Stadium, Great Western Railway (GWR) and Transport for Wales (TfW) are running additional train services.
This Saturday, 7th November, with a 16:40 kick-off, Wales play Japan, then face New Zealand on Saturday, 14th November at 14:10, before their final game against Australia on Saturday, 21st November at 20:10.
All GWR services to Cardiff Central on these Saturdays will be reservation-only, so fans should book their seats in advance to avoid missing out. This can be done at www.gwr.com/check or www.tfw.wales/plan-a-journey.
Fans should also note that football matches will be taking place in Cardiff on the same dates, adding to demand on services, so it is important for fans to plan ahead and allow plenty of time for their journeys.
After the matches, trains will be very busy, and queueing systems will be implemented to help passengers catch their trains safely.
After each match, fans travelling to the Valleys or Vale of Glamorgan by Transport for Wales services will be directed to Cardiff Queen Street station to catch their trains.
Services to other destinations. including TfW services to Ebbw Vale and Maesteg, and GWR trains to Swansea and London, should queue in the square in front of Cardiff Central station; an accessibility queue will be available at both Cardiff Central and Queen Street stations.
Fans should also note that revenue checks will take place at Cardiff Central before and after each match, so passengers should purchase their rail tickets before boarding a train or joining a queue.
Similar arrangements were implemented during last autumn’s internationals and at recent concerts at the stadium.
“We’re really pleased to be providing additional trains for this year’s Autumn Internationals at the Principality Stadium. Services into Cardiff Central will be reservation-only, so we’d urge fans to plan ahead and secure their seats early to avoid disappointment. Please allow plenty of time for your journey and remember that trains will be extremely busy both before kick-off and immediately after the matches.”
